Tennis Rules and Guidelines - Singhalese Sports Club - 2025
General
1. There are five clay surfaced tennis courts within the Tennis complex of the club.
2. Flood lights are provided for all the courts, enabling play to continue after sun set, till late evening.
3. The purpose of this is to ensure regular tennis playing members are provided with proper use of facilities during the times allocated for them.
4. Changes and revisions will be applied as and when there are revisions to electricity, water and other overhead or maintenance costs.
5. Tennis courts will be opened daily from 6 am to 10.00 pm when club is open. However the use of the courts for members may be restricted in the event of any Tennis matches or tournaments are conducted by the club and also on days designated by the club.
6. These rules/guidelines will supersede any existing rules/guidelines.
Morning hours (6 am to 9 am)
1. Any courts that are not used by coaches who have hired the courts, may be booked by club members by making the appropriate payment to the club office/security reception at the entrance, in advance.
2. Tennis playing members will pay Rs. 500/= per court hour which will enable them to bring one guest free of charge. Any additional guests will be charged at Rs. 500/=. For non tennis members Rs. 600/= per court hour and a guest free of Rs. 600/= per person will be charged.
3. Balls and Ball pikers will not be provided.
Evening hours (2 pm to 6.30 pm)
1. From 2 pm to 4 pm coaching will be given priority on all courts except court No.1 court No.1 will be reserved for tennis members and their guests from 2 pm to 6.30 pm.
2. Court Nos. 1, 2 and 3 will always be reserved for tennis playing members from 4 pm to 6.30 pm with no payment, if club membership fees and the tennis sectional fees have been paid. Such members could also use these 3 courts from 2 pm to 4 pm as well with no addition payment provided the courts have no other prior bookings. Fee for a guest brought by a tennis member will be Rs.500/= per person.
3. Court No.4 and 5 are reserved for bookings from 2 pm to 6.30 pm. However one of these courts may be booked for Rs. 200/= per hour from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm by tennis playing members of the club who ranked in Sri Lanka tennis ranking and made themselves available to represent the club at Inter club tournaments; if such a member brings a guest, the normal guest free of Rs. 500/= per hour will be applicable.
4. Non tennis members of the club will be charged a fee of Rs. 600/= per hour, per person. An additional fee of Rs. 600/= per hour per person also will be charged. Balls and other facilities will be provided.
5. Court No.1 will be reserved for Tennis members and their guests other than on days tournaments are conducted.
Evening Under Lights (6.30 pm to 9.30 pm)
1. Tennis members of the club may make a payment of Rs. 1800/= per court per hour playing under lights. All facilities including balls will be provided for the tennis playing members. One guest will be allowed (club member or a non member) free of charge. Additional guest will be charged Rs.500/= per person, per hour.
2. Non tennis members and non member of the club to be charged Rs. 500/= per person, per court per hour in addition to the Rs. 1800/= as court fees under lights. Balls will not be provided for bookings made by non tennis members and out siders.
Coaching / Tournament Fees
1. Coaching per hour per court will be Rs. 1600/=
2. Monthly booking for coaching will be Rs. 20,000/= per court per hour.
3. No balls will be provided.
4. No running or conducting physical training will be allowed on the tennis courts.
5. Students should not be allowed to rest on the nets, lean over or touch the nets.
6. Coaching should be limited to 3 students on one side at any given time. This is to minimize unrepairable damages to the courts.
7. Students should be in 'non making' proper shoes designed for tennis.
8. Tournament fees will be Rs. 2000/= per hour per court during the day time.
9. If flood lights are used, an additional free of Rs. 1800/= will be charged per hour per court.
General Conditions
1. All members and guests use the courts on a 'first come first served' basis.
2. Singles play is not allowed between 4 pm and 6.30 pm unless there are sufficient courts for other members and their guests.
3. Courts should not be used for coaching or sparing with a coach for a fee from 2 pm to
6.30 pm.
4. All payments mentioned above are inclusive of taxes.
5. All payments should be made prior to using the facilities in the tennis complex to the security/reception at the entrance, and proof of payment should be produced to the staff on duty at the tennis complex.
6. Members bring guests should accompany their guests as they are responsible for the conduct, behavior and any damages, caused to the facility.
7. When on the court, should be in proper 'non making' shoes designed for tennis.
8. Wet courts after rain should not be used without the consent of the ground staff on duty. Preparation of courts under such conditions will be done only by the ground staff.
